BMS Design & Commissioning Engineer
Position Objective:
The BMS Design & Commissioning Engineer will be part of the company's technical team. It will be responsible for reviewing and approving BMS designs, developing technical specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards. On top of that, he will be responsible for overseeing testing and commissioning activities, and providing technical recommendations and troubleshooting.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Develop standards and specifications for BMS systems in accordance with project requirements
- Participate in tender preparation, bidders' profile reviews and technical evaluations
- Review different stages for BMS design (generic prototype design, detailed site-specific design, MAR, IFC, and shop drawings)
- Ensure BMS designs are aligned with project requirements, comply with project specifications, codes, standards, and cybersecurity regulations
- Coordinate design interfaces and compatibility with different majors, including but not limited to mechanical systems, electrical systems, fire protection systems, security systems and information technology systems
- Identify design risks, gaps, inconsistencies, and carry out necessary troubleshooting
- Oversee installation methodologies, compatibility protocols and O&M manuals
- Oversee testing and commissioning procedures and conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance with approved designs
- Review as-built documentation and verify system readiness for operational use, and participate during the final acceptance and handover stage
- Participate in outlining the project specifications document for the owner's future reference, ensuring space for expansion, enhancement and optimisation
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechtronics is a must.
- Experience with one or more major BMS platforms (Honeywell / Johnson / Tridium / Niagara) (mandatory at least for two)
- Strong understanding of related BMS protocols (such as BACnet IP / Modbus TCP/IP / KNX … etc)
- Robotics / AMRs / G2P / AS/RS (plus)
- BIM / NAVISWORKS (plus)
- Knowledge of integration with different mechanical, electrical and control systems (including but not limited to CCTV, Data Centres, UPS .. etc)
- Proven experience in design reviewing, project consulting, PMC, or owner representative roles
- Proven experience reviewing and commissioning BMS systems for multi-purpose facilities as well as acceptance and handover activities
- Technical certificates, such as CCP, CEM, etc., would be a plus
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Proficient in using MS applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- English & Arabic Languages are mandatory to know, both speaking and writing
