Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our library team. In this vital role, you will manage accurate recording of financial transactions, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support the organization’s financial health. Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete using Keystone accounting software.
- Process accounts payable and revenue transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare monthly reports for Library Director and Library Board.
- Assist in preparing annual reports to State agencies.
- Complete bi-weekly payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental reporting requirements as needed.
- Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and providing detailed financial reports for management review.
- Collaborate with State Board of Accounts auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial records.
- Maintain compliance with financial regulations and internal controls while documenting all bookkeeping activities thoroughly.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, with formal training or up to one year of experience in bookkeeping. Experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets desired.
- Experience in non-profit or governmental accounting is desirable but not required.
- Ability to understand, anazlyze, interpret, compile and maintain records dealing with library expenditures, revenues and budgets.
- Familiarity with accounts payable process, payroll administration, and tax preparation experience preferred.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately using 10 key typing skills.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and account analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Effective communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with Library Director. Maintain friendly, energetic, courteous and professional attitude.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
