Green Room Design Build is a high-end residential design-build firm delivering custom homes and renovations through a fully integrated process. The team values disciplined planning, clear financial visibility, and close collaboration between design, preconstruction, and production.

As project volume and operational complexity continue to grow, Green Room is seeking a Bookkeeper to support accurate financial tracking, job cost clarity, and consistent reporting across multiple projects and entities.

About the Role

The Bookkeeper plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting calm, informed decision-making within the business. This position works closely with leadership and external accounting partners to ensure day-to-day financial records are current, organized, and reliable.

This is not a transactional data-entry role. Green Room is looking for someone who understands construction accounting fundamentals and approaches bookkeeping as a disciplined operational function-balancing accuracy, ownership, and structure.

This is a full-time or part-time, in-office role based in Encinitas, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records across multiple projects and entities
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Track and allocate job costs appropriately
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Support monthly close and reporting preparation
  • Prepare quarterly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and audit-ready records
  • Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors

Tech Stack & Tools

Green Room uses a practical, well-supported financial toolset to maintain visibility and accountability across projects. Experience with every tool is not required, but comfort working within structured systems is essential.

  • Accounting & Financial Management: QuickBooks Desktop
  • Job Cost Tracking: Project-based cost coding and allocation systems
  • Reporting: Excel-based financial reports and WIP schedules
  • Project Management Coordination: JobTread (in coordination with production team)
  • Documentation & File Management: Structured cloud-based financial folders

What Success Looks Like

  • Financial records are clean, current, and defensible
  • Job costs are tracked consistently and accurately
  • Month-end close is organized and predictable
  • Leadership has reliable, real-time visibility into project financials
  • Financial systems support steady, confident growth

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience; construction or project-based accounting strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop required
  • Working knowledge of job cost accounting principles
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organized, dependable, and deadline-conscious
  • Comfortable working fully on-site in Encinitas
