Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health through precise bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial report writing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse accounting software and contribute to the smooth operation of our financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all journal entries are accurately recorded using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks desktop & Patriot.
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations regularly to ensure consistency between bank statements and internal records.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation to verify the accuracy of asset, liability, and equity accounts.
- Prepare financial reports by analyzing account data, supporting budgeting efforts, and assisting with financial report writing.
- Process payroll and handle tax-related transactions in compliance with governmental accounting standards.
- Assist with double entry bookkeeping practices, ensuring debits and credits are properly balanced across all accounts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, general ledger accounting, and corporate or non-profit accounting practices.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards is a plus.
- Familiarity with bank reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.
- Excellent skills in financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger management.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance is preferred.
