Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and company records.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions accurately in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Prepare financial reports and statements, including balance sheets and income statements, to support management decision-making.
- Conduct account analysis and general ledger reconciliation to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental accounting requirements when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience at least 3 years in bookkeeping or accounting roles with familiarity in corporate and non-profit accounting environments.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; experience with Quicken is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Ability to perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis accurately.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and tax experience is advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and financial report writing.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; proficiency in 10-key typing for data entry tasks.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and support internal controls related to accounts payable/receivable and payroll.
