Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist

Clarity & Growth Bookkeeping is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist to support small and medium-sized businesses with accurate financial records and payroll management.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in organization, accuracy, and helping business owners stay on top of their finances. We are a growing company and are looking for someone who wants to grow with us long-term.

Position Details

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to verify the integrity of financial data.
  • Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and detailed financial reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions efficiently while ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to support accurate financial statements.
  • Assist with budgeting processes and provide support for governmental or non-profit accounting requirements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations by preparing necessary documentation related to payroll taxes, sales taxes, or other applicable filings.
  • Support internal audits by providing detailed account reconciliation reports and documentation of financial transactions.
  • Utilize technical accounting skills for complex transactions involving double entry bookkeeping and account analysis.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, but is willing to learn others.
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles.
  • Experience with payroll processing systems and tax experience related to payroll taxes.
  • Knowledge of bank reconciliation procedures, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable/receivable management, and account reconciliation techniques.
  • Familiarity with financial report writing, budgeting processes, and general ledger accounting.
  • Ability to perform detailed account analysis using 10 key typing skills for data entry accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting concepts.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
