JOB DESCRIPTION

Business Analyst

Department: Digital & Technology (D&T)

Reports To: Head of Strategy & Governance

Location: Flexible (Online / On-Premise)

Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract

Experience Required: 5 – 10+ years

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems

Certifications: CBAP or CCBA (required); Agile certification (PMI-ACP, CSM, or SAFe)

Languages: English (required); Arabic (preferred)

1. Role Purpose

The Business Analyst (BA) translates business needs into clear, structured, and implementable

requirements. This critical role ensures zero ambiguity between systems and guarantees readiness for rapid implementation, particularly for the Student Information System (SIS). The BA acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring that all requirements align with the organization's strategic objectives and technical architecture.

The BA will play a central role in the SIS war-room delivery — a fast-paced, intensive execution

environment — while also supporting requirements across the CRM, ERP, and LMS platforms.

2. Scope of Work

The Business Analyst will lead requirements elicitation across various departments, developing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) aligned with the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) methodology. A primary focus is ensuring functional clarity and defining clear system boundaries to prevent overlap. The BA will also support change management activities and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability of documented processes.

3. Key Responsibilities

Area Responsibility

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct comprehensive workshops with Admissions,
  • Registrar, Finance, and Marketing teams.
  • Process Definition: Define end-to-end business processes for the student lifecycle.
  • Requirements : Develop functional requirements, non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Traceability: Maintain strict traceability from BRDs to Functional Requirements and Acceptance Criteria.
  • System Boundaries: Define the system responsibility matrix, delineating functions between CRM, SIS, and ERP.
  • UAT Support: Develop UAT scenarios, test cases, and support system validation efforts.
  • Change Management: Support organizational change management and knowledge transfer activities.

4. Competencies

Functional Competencies

  • Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the BABOK methodology and Agile frameworks
  • (Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent), with the ability to operate effectively in both structured and iterative
  • delivery environments.
  • Expertise in process modeling techniques such as BPMN and in structuring requirements — functional, non-functional, and acceptance criteria — is mandatory.
  • Previous experience working with Student Information Systems (admissions, enrollment), Customer Relationship Management systems (lead management), and Enterprise Resource Planning systems (finance integration) is essential.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, and Google Cloud (GCP) data/reporting tools (e.g., BigQuery, Looker) is expected.

Non-Functional Competencies

  • The Business Analyst must exhibit exceptional precision and clarity, with zero tolerance for ambiguity in requirements documentation. Strong facilitation skills are required to lead workshops effectively.
  • The BA must demonstrate the ability to constructively challenge stakeholders when necessary to maintain project scope and architectural alignment. A disciplined approach to structured documentation is critical.

5. Deliverables

Deliverable Description:

  • Business Requirements Documents: BABOK-compliant BRDs for all in-scope systems.
  • Functional Requirements: MoSCoW-prioritized functional requirements specifications.
  • System Responsibility Matrix: Clear delineation of system ownership across CRM, SIS, and ERP.
  • Process Flows: Detailed As-Is and To-Be process flow diagrams.
  • UAT Scenarios & Test Cases: Comprehensive test scenarios for system validation.

6. KPIs and Acceptance Criteria:

  • KPI Target System Ownership Clarity
  • Zero ambiguity in system ownership across the organization.
  • Requirements Traceability
  • All requirements mapped: Business → Functional → Acceptance.
  • Rework Rate: No rework resulting from unclear or incomplete requirements.
  • UAT Pass Rate: ≥ 95% pass rate during the first UAT cycle.

7. Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field. CBAP or CCBA certification is required, along with a recognized Agile certification (PMI-ACP, CSM, or SAFe).
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in business analysis is expected, with experience in education systems strongly preferred.
  • A proven track record of successful delivery in both Agile and traditional environments, particularly in fast-paced, high-pressure settings, is essential.
