Business Development Associate - Tesla Energy, Saudi Arabia

What to Expect

Reporting to the Regional Sales Lead, Tesla is seeking a Saudi-based Business Development Associate to support our commercial energy business expansion and ongoing initiatives in Saudi Arabia. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive Tesla's market strategy by securing and signing new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, coordinating with key stakeholders, supporting collaborations with Saudi governmental entities, and ensuring seamless market entry. The ideal candidate possesses an entrepreneurial mindset, strong business acumen, and the ability to leverage Tesla's internal resources—across policy, product, sales, and engineering teams—to expand BESS projects locally. With guidance from the Regional Sales Lead, you'll advance initiatives with local authorities. Key requirements include strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of the energy sector, and a passion for promoting large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems and other Tesla energy-related products in emerging regions.


What You'll Do
  • Support Tesla’s energy storage expansion in the Kingdom by coordinating workstreams with government, identifying opportunities, and assisting in the development of roadmaps for market entry, with a focus on Megapack deployments.

  • Build and maintain connections with private and governmental stakeholders (Ministries, Public companies CEOs,…) including utilities, regulators, ministries, and large energy consumers in the country to drive Tesla vision for a transition to sustainable energy.

  • Come with creative solutions combining all Tesla ecosystem (Energy, Charging, Motors,…) and offer countries solutions that can help them to achieve sustainable goals.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Policy, Product, Engineering, and Autobidder) to ensure smooth coordination and execution of market entry processes.

  • Advocate for Tesla’s approach to energy storage deployment, providing education and thought leadership to prospective customers.

  • Partner with local governments and Tesla’s policy team to shape regulatory frameworks that support BESS adoption and market growth.


What You'll Bring
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a Business Development role within conventional energy, renewables, or related fields, with a preference for BESS expertise.
  • Established network of contacts within government organizations, ministries, transmission system operators (TSOs), utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), developers, and similar entities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Saudi energy sector, including energy storage technologies and their value propositions.
  • Strong communication skills, along with expertise in strategic thinking, financial analysis, and program management.
  • Proven ability to present to external executive teams; an established network in the energy industry is highly advantageous.
  • Self-starter with the capability to explore and qualify opportunities with minimal guidance.
  • Experience working with utilities, IPPs, developers, and governments.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Currently located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
