Job Summary
We are seeking a Business Development Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background and experience in the transportation sector (automotive, rail, logistics, fleet, or infrastructure). The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and supporting technical-commercial proposals for transport-related solutions and services.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in the transport and mobility sector
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, OEMs, operators, government bodies, and consultants
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and trend monitoring
- Prepare and deliver technical-commercial presentations and proposals
- Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and bid submissions
Technical & Engineering Support
- Translate customer requirements into feasible technical solutions
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and operations teams to develop proposals
- Review technical specifications, drawings, and compliance requirements
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support
Strategy & Growth
- Develop business growth strategies aligned with company objectives
- Identify opportunities for new products, services, or partnerships
- Support project handover from sales to execution teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 3–8 years of experience in business development, sales engineering, or technical sales
- Strong exposure to transport systems (automotive, rail, fleet management, public transport, logistics, or heavy vehicles)
- Understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing, or transport infrastructure
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical and commercial acumen
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to understand complex engineering solutions and explain them to non-technical clients
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); CRM tools are a plus
- Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience with tenders, RFPs, and government projects
- Knowledge of sustainability, EVs, smart mobility, or transport regulations
- Prior experience working with OEMs, EPCs, or transport authorities
