Business Development Manager

Position Summary/Objective

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for growing our independent pharmacy customer base by identifying new business opportunities, onboarding new accounts, and building long-term partnerships with pharmacy owners and decision-makers. This role will be responsible for market development to the immediate west/southwest of our existing service region.

This is a high-impact, consultative sales role ideal for someone who thrives on relationship building, strategic selling, and helping customers succeed.


What You’ll Do

New Business Development

Prospect and onboard new independent/community pharmacy customers
Conduct outbound outreach, virtual meetings, and in-person visits
Present pricing programs, generics strategies, and service solutions
Negotiate contracts that align with customer needs and company goals
Meet and exceed new business and revenue targets

Relationship Management

Serve as the primary contact for assigned pharmacy partners
Build trusted, long-term relationships with pharmacy owners and leadership
Partner cross-functionally with Customer Service, Operations, Finance, Marketing, IT, and Pharmacy Strategy teams
Identify growth opportunities through cross-selling and expanded services

Industry & Market Leadership

Stay informed on PBM trends, reimbursement pressures, and community pharmacy challenges
Monitor competitive landscape and territory market conditions
Provide customer insights and strategic feedback to leadership

Sales Operations & Reporting

Maintain accurate pipeline and activity tracking within Salesforce CRM
Develop territory strategies, forecasts, and performance reports
Ensure compliance with contracts, policies, and regulatory requirements


Work Environment

  • Full-time position, primarily Monday–Friday with occasional evening or weekend work depending on client needs and travel schedules.
  • Territory-based with regular travel to customer sites and industry events.
  • Remote flexibility based on business needs.
  • frequent travel to meet clients is expected.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent healthcare or business experience
5+ years of pharmaceutical wholesaler, pharmacy, or healthcare sales experience
Proven success in outbound sales and business development
Experience working with independent or small-chain pharmacies preferred
Strong knowledge of independent community pharmacy operations
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)
Self-motivated with strong organization and territory management skills
