Job Summary

We are seeking a highly driven and entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to establish, develop, and independently manage a pharmaceutical medicine distribution business. The role requires end-to-end responsibility, including market entry, channel development, regulatory coordination, sales growth, and operational oversight.

The ideal candidate will function as a profit center head, capable of building the business from the ground up with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Business Setup & Market Development

  • Establish pharmaceutical distribution operations from inception.
  • Identify market opportunities, product segments, and high-potential territories.
  • Conduct market research on competitors, pricing, and demand trends.
  • Develop short-term and long-term business strategies and revenue plans.

Channel & Client Development

  • Appoint and manage distributors, stockists, wholesalers, and retail pharmacy networks.
  • Build strong relationships with hospitals, clinics, doctors, and pharmacy chains.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, margins, and supply agreements.
  • Ensure timely onboarding and performance monitoring of channel partners.

OEM / Manufacturer Coordination

  • Liaise with pharmaceutical manufacturers and principals.
  • Negotiate pricing, discounts, credit terms, and promotional support.
  • Coordinate product availability, launches, and stock planning.

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Drive primary and secondary sales growth across assigned regions.
  • Set sales targets and ensure achievement through effective execution.
  • Monitor receivables, credit control, and cash flow.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, MIS reports, and profitability analysis.

Operations & Compliance Oversight

  • Coordinate drug licensing, regulatory approvals, and compliance with local pharma laws.
  • Ensure GDP (Good Distribution Practices) compliance and proper storage conditions.
  • Oversee logistics, inventory management, expiry control, and returns.
  • Implement SOPs for sales, operations, and compliance.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and manage sales and operations staff as the business grows.
  • Set KPIs and conduct performance reviews.
  • Build a high-performance, compliance-driven culture.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on execution ability.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical distribution channels.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial understanding.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Result-oriented and accountable for P&L.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • 8–12 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales / distribution / business development.
  • Proven experience in setting up or expanding a pharma distribution network.
  • Existing network with stockists, pharmacies, and manufacturers is a strong advantage.
