Job Responsibilities
The Business Manager will be responsible for integrating grants administration, budget management, and strategic financial planning to support the Center for Civil Rights History and Research. The position will manage the administration of the grants and sponsored programs, develop and manage an integrated budget for the Center, oversee the financial planning related to facilities operations, and supervise an administrative assistant to support the role.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
7 or more years of experience in grant administration, business management, public administration, human resources, or administrative services, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. Demonstrated expertise in grant accounting is highly preferred, including budget development and management, procurement, travel, and human resources activities and systems. Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who has experience with USC financial systems such as PeopleSoft Payroll and Finance, Finance Intranet, and USCeRA preferred. Experience working with non-profits and government organizations, particularly in grant-funded environments, is strongly preferred.
Additional Comments
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. Understanding of federal grant/contract regulations and procedures, basic accounting and financial management principles. Organizational skills and time management skills needed to meet deadlines. Analytical skills needed to make accurate decisions and to identify areas in which spending can be reduced. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a diverse audience. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and sponsoring agency personnel.
