Summary:
The Business Office Coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily financial and clerical operations of the Faith Regional Surgery Center. Directs and facilitates the operation of the business office to include all functions related to patient scheduling, admitting, billing, medical records, insurance, and collections in accordance with the Surgery Center's policies and procedures. Maintains payable and receivable within established guidelines and reports variances and trends to the Administrator proactively. May delegate duties as deemed necessary. Supports the goals of the Partnership and optimizes the financial and human resources of the Center. Performs as a role model for guest relations to ensure that the staff provides courteous, respectful, and personalized customer service.

Responsibilities:
1. Efficiently controls and coordinates the services provided by the business office.
2. Responsible for the monthly time schedule of the business office staff; coordinates daily time schedule with the OR schedule and PTO requests.
3. In collaboration with the Administrator supervises the staff in compliance with the Surgery Center policies; interviews, hires the staff in accordance with established staffing plans; assists in establishing performance standards and expectations; provides input for performance reviews and counsels and disciplines staff as necessary to assure effective department operations.
4. Responsible for adhering to the monthly budgets established for the Surgery Center. Reviews monthly budgets, identifies variances and assists the Administrator/Facility Manager to develop strategies to keep budget on track and maintain a cost effective and efficient Center; Assists in the preparation of the monthly statistical report.
5. Assists in developing policies and procedures; at least annually reviews the policies and procedures and updates as needed.
6. Assures accurate and timely billing of accounts; ensures that organized data and billing documents are maintained in patient's electronic health record; reviews for errors and requests revisions accordingly; remains in consistent communication with the billing companies regarding all billing practices. Ensures timely deposits to bank accounts.
7. Works accounts receivable as needed and follows up with billers as needed; determines accounts to be sent to collections, works to maintain A/R within set goals.
8. Prepares any requested information from third party payers.
9. Performs banking and checking functions, including daily deposits and petty cash management.
10. Supervises the registration, collaborates with the surgery scheduler as needed for scheduling patients for surgery; assures accurate verification of eligibility and pre-admission authorizations and benefits; ensures that the appropriate team members are notified of cancellations, denials, or changes in the surgery schedule in a timely manner.
11. Responsible for completeness and integrity of the data system; ensures that the staff is utilizing the system to its full capabilities.
12. Proficient in email, Microsoft word, excel and knowledge of SharePoint.
13. Collaborates with the physicians' office staff to identify needs; resolve all complaints in a timely manner
14. Identifies needs and recommends programs for staff development and education; evaluates orientation and in-service programs, identifying and recommending present and future needs; have regular departmental staff meetings to promote communication and problem solving and inform staff of any changes.
15. Respects and complies with decisions made by the Partnership and the Administrator/Facility Manager.
Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements for Position):
GED or High School Diploma required.
Associate Degree required.
Previous Experience Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
Previous clinical experience preferred.
Previous management experience required.
Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Strong accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and collections preferred.
Combination of 3 years of education and experience in position field required.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
SKILLS (If Applicable):
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the Spanish language preferred.
Proficient computer skills required.
Strong understanding of medical office and billing functions preferred.
KNOWLEDGE (If Applicable):
Surgical Scheduling required.
Billing and Collections required.
Insurance Verification required.
