Business Solutions Analyst

Position Overview:
The Business Solution Analyst for Product plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain. This individual brings deep expertise in P&C insurance business processes, workflows, and systems, and collaborates with cross-functional teams—including Underwriting, Operations, Product Development, and IT—to define and implement innovative technology solutions.

The role focuses on providing analytical support for the implementation of new products and product extensions within policy systems. The Business Solution Analyst will coordinate efforts across business teams (Product Development, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Actuarial), the Marketplace solution team, and both consulting and internal IT system implementation teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Requirements & Vision:
    • Understand the overarching business vision for Commercial Insurance in the Small and Lower Middle Market segments.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to elicit, define, and document business requirements for systems and processes.
  • Project Leadership & Coordination:
    • Lead and manage project teams to execute product requirements and solution sessions.
    • Act as the primary liaison between business functions, IT teams, and consulting partners to ensure alignment on requirements and solutions.
  • Documentation & Communication:
    • Develop and communicate detailed Product Specification business requirements documentation.
    • Define and document Epics, Features, and User Stories that represent system functionality, along with associated benefits and value for users.
  • Solution Design & Implementation:
    • Collaborate within an Agile Development environment to define solutions that support business processes.
    • Review work requests and assess the impact of product and system changes on existing workflows.
    • Anticipate, negotiate, and resolve business design issues to ensure project success.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance:
    • Manage the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process to ensure solutions meet business needs and expectations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Industry Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of P&C and Specialty insurance, including Product Development, Operations, Claims, and IT. In-depth understanding of P&C or Specialty Products, Online Systems, Automated Workflows, and Underwriting Rule Definition.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Proven experience in Product Architecture and designing complex technology solutions. Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently identify and propose alternative solutions. Ability to define/document Epics, Features, and User Stories to support business functions.
  • Project & Resource Management: Exceptional resource management skills to drive projects to successful delivery. Demonstrated experience in managing large technology solution implementations, including requirements management, solution design, and project management processes.
  • Process Improvement: Strong understanding of business processes and product functionality, with the ability to identify gaps and proactively suggest improvements.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership. Results-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The pay range for the role is $97,000 to $155,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
