JOB SUMMARY:
A Douglas Machine Inc. Buyer is responsible for supply chain management. This includes, but not limited to, the following: contract management, developing and implementing bids, establishing new sources of supply, consolidating existing sources of supply, managing supply chain improvement projects, and intervening on critical supply chain issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Ensure the highest standards are followed according to Douglas Machine’s Statement of Supply Chain Ethics.

Continuously develop skills and knowledge in supply chain management profession.

Establish confidentiality agreements with suppliers.
-
Schedule and lead supplier meetings, which include preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Meet with engineers to understand needs and issues and provides follow up communications.

Manage the development of bid documents for new and existing requirements.
- Lead internal strategy development and supplier negotiations assuring the interests of Douglas Machine Inc. are managed.

Communicate critical supply issues (delivery, quality, price, etc) to Director of Materials and executive sponsor as needed.

Develop contracts and agreements with suppliers to reflect negotiated conditions.

Work with the Sourcing Coordinator to assure the daily and weekly requirements are managed in the best interest of Douglas Machine Inc.

Work with the Sourcing Coordinator to develop and disseminate the supplier performance data regarding service, quality, and cost.

Work with Director of Materials to implement improvements in supply management process.

Participate in the measurement and reporting of cost increases, reductions, and avoidances.

Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong PC knowledge with well-developed MS Office application skills.

Strong organizational and team building skills.
-
Ability to analyze data and write/generate reports.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently or on a team.
-
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with persons at all levels within the organization as well as with supplier representatives.

Capable of managing supply chain related projects to through to completion in a timely manner.

Minimum of three to five years supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requires moderate to low supervision.
-
Has or will work towards a professional certification (CPM, APICS, NAPM, etc.).

Is a resource for the procurement group on supply chain issues.
