CAD/ CAM Operator

To ensure the accurate and efficient conversion of CAD/CAM data into production-ready formats, maintaining quality, minimizing rework, and providing timely technical support to production and PPC teams while contributing to staff training and development within the department.

Requirements

1. CAD/CAM Accuracy

• Ensure design and CAM outputs meet production standards without the need for rework.
• Validate machining feasibility and part integrity before release.
• Perform quality checks on CAD/CAM data to maintain process efficiency.

2. CAM Program Accuracy

• Develop and verify toolpaths, cutting parameters, and material grain direction in line with production requirements.
• Optimize machining programs to reduce processing time and material waste.
• Coordinate with production teams to validate and improve machining accuracy.

3. Lead Time to Release Drawings

• Manage and prioritize job orders to ensure timely release of final production drawings.
• Coordinate closely with design, production, and PPC to minimize lead time.
• Maintain accurate records of drawing release timelines.

4. Customer (Production/PPC) Satisfaction

• Obtain and act on feedback from production and PPC teams regarding drawing or CAM-related challenges.
• Provide proactive solutions to design issues impacting downstream processes.
• Build strong communication links between design and execution teams.

5. Technical Support Responsiveness

• Provide timely support for any design or CAM-related technical issues.
• Troubleshoot toolpath, nesting, or machining parameter problems promptly.
• Document recurring issues and share learning with the team.

6. Team Training & Development

• Conduct internal training sessions on CAD, CAM, and system functionalities.
• Strengthen team knowledge on core and cross-functional areas to reduce dependency.
• Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members.

7. Succession Planning

• Identify potential talent within the team for key technical roles.
• Support development through mentoring, skill enhancement, and leadership exposure.
• Assist in building a robust talent pipeline for continuity of design operations.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., imos, AutoCAD, CutRite, Ardis, etc.)
• Strong understanding of machining, nesting, and material behavior (especially veneer & grain direction).
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Education:

• DAE/ Diploma holder
