1. CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Responsibilities
- Creating 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).
- Interpreting and reviewing engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Modifying and updating existing designs as required.
- Ensuring drawings meet industry standards and project requirements.
- Collaborating with engineers and designers to finalize models.
2. CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) Responsibilities
- Developing, creating, and optimizing CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, etc.).
- Selecting appropriate tools, toolpaths, feeds, and speeds for machining.
- Simulating CNC toolpaths to ensure accuracy and avoid collisions.
- Exporting and preparing CNC code (G-code) for various machines.
3. CNC Machine Support
- Assisting in machine setup, including tooling, fixtures, and material preparation.
- Verifying programs on CNC machines and conducting test runs.
- Troubleshooting program or machining issues.
- Ensuring smooth communication between design and production teams.
4. Quality Control
- Inspecting machined parts using calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and other measurement tools.
- Adjusting programs or models to correct dimensional issues.
- Maintaining documentation and quality records.
5. Production & Workflow Management
- Coordinating with production supervisors to meet deadlines.
- Managing and organizing CAD/CAM files and revisions.
- Ensuring efficient machining processes to reduce waste and increase productivity.
6. Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintaining CAD/CAM software libraries (tools, templates, post processors).
- Updating programs for new machines or tooling.
- Suggesting improvements in machining processes or design efficiency.
