JOB SUMMARY:

The Munters R & D group develops new products for the Data Center Cooling Market. The R & D designer is an essential part of the development process from concept to successful product. Designers interpret job requirements and develop CAD models that are suitable for manufacturing, achieve cost targets, and meet customer needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Generates CAD models, drawings, parts lists, and assembly drawings for Munters products.
• Supports new product development with conceptual designs and layouts, as needed.
• Participates in Kaizan and other cross functional teams to improve designs
• Supports continuous improvement and cost reduction activities through ECO process
• Provides engineering expertise and/or support to other departments as needed.
• Independently selects parts and interacts with suppliers to reach project design goals
• Assists in prototype builds to understand and improve the designs.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• 3D CAD
• Ability to work on large scale projects and provide comprehensive documentation
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral

• Ability to successfully plan work to meet deadlines
• Design for manufacturing ( DFM)
• Stress analysis and advanced modeling techniques in Solidworks

DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with designing sheet metal, piping, electrical, and assemblies.
• Familiarity with HVAC components.
• Experience with Solidworks
• 10-15 years industry experience with Associates degree, or equivalent experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This work requires sitting most of the time.
• Daily walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes
• The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
