Cantonese / English Preschool Teacher

True Sunshine Preschool Center is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing high-quality, full-day childcare and bilingual English/Cantonese instruction for children ages two to five. Position: Chinese (Cantonese)/English bi-lingual Teacher

Schedule: Full-time, year-round

The Chinese (Cantonese) / English Bi-lingual Teacher works collaboratively with the teaching team to design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that reflects the interests and needs of the children. The teacher must demonstrate a strong understanding of child development and be responsive to the individual learning styles of each child.

As a language teacher, this role also includes serving as a positive, consistent language model, supporting children’s growth in English and/or Cantonese, and fostering a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborates with partiner teachers to design and implement the Chinese/English portion of the curriculum using the Project Approach.
  • Engages with children through large- and small-group activities conducted in English/Chinese.
  • Maintaining the classroom/environment, so that it is safe, welcoming, and full of fun and learning.
  • Being proactive, sensitive, and mindful about the children, their learning, and the environment.
  • Communicates regularly with parents and actively invites their participation in the classroom community.
  • Participates in regular team meetings with teaching partners, instructional coaches, and the broader teaching staff.
  • Conducts developmental assessments using the DRDP tool (online) and collects supporting evidence for each measure.
  • Uses assessment results to guide and inform curriculum planning.
  • Designs open-ended learning experiences for children and scaffolds their learning based on individual needs and interests.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for a California Master Teacher Permit or higher (AA or BA degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred).
  • Fluent in spoken, written, and reading Cantonese and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable navigating the internet.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Works collaboratively and respectfully as part of a teaching team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Physically able to lift up to 35 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
