Job Description – Captain Waiter

Position Title: Captain Waiter
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports To: F&B Service Supervisor

Position Overview

The Captain Waiter is responsible for supervising service operations within the assigned outlet and ensuring smooth coordination between service staff and kitchen. The role requires strong product knowledge, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to maintaining high service standards and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Service Supervision

  • Oversee service operations during assigned shifts.
  • Allocate sections and responsibilities to waiters and service staff.
  • Ensure proper muse en place and outlet readiness before service.
  • Monitor service flow to ensure timely and efficient delivery.

Guest Relations

  • Welcome and interact with guests in a professional manner.
  • Take orders accurately and provide recommendations when required.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Ensure consistent guest satisfaction and personalized service.

Team Coordination

  • Guide and support waiters during service.
  • Ensure grooming, uniform standards, and discipline are maintained.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate daily specials, promotions, and operational updates.
  • Assist in training new staff members and improving service skills.

Operational & Quality Control

  • Ensure compliance with hotel service standards and SOPs.
  • Monitor cleanliness and presentation of tables and service areas.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely order preparation.
  • Support inventory control and proper handling of equipment and supplies.

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Ensure accurate order entry and billing through POS system.
  • Verify bills before presenting to guests.
  • Support cash handling procedures where applicable.
  • Assist in preparing shift reports and communicating operational concerns to management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or certification in Hospitality or Food & Beverage preferred.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in F&B service, with supervisory exposure.
  • Experience in a hotel or upscale restaurant environment preferred.
