Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused Truck Driver to support our busy outside catering operations. The role involves safely transporting food, beverages, equipment, and setup materials to off-site event venues, assisting with loading/unloading, and occasionally supporting event execution. This position is essential to ensuring our high-end catering services are delivered on time, in perfect condition, and with excellent hospitality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the hotel’s catering truck (box truck / refrigerated van) to and from event venues, following planned routes and schedules while adhering to all local traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and secure catering equipment, food containers, chafing dishes, tables, linens, décor, AV items, and other supplies at the hotel kitchen/warehouse in coordination with the catering and kitchen teams.
- Transport items safely, maintaining proper food temperatures (hot/cold holding) and preventing damage or spillage during transit.
- Unload trucks at event locations, set up staging areas, and assist with basic event setup (e.g., arranging buffet lines, placing equipment) as needed.
- Provide direction to event helpers or porters during loading/unloading to ensure efficient, organized, and safe handling of all items.
- Represent the hotel professionally at events by interacting courteously with clients, venue staff, and guests.
- Break down events post-function: collect, pack, and reload leftover food, equipment, and materials for return to the hotel.
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, report any maintenance issues, and keep the truck clean and organized.
- Assist with minor vehicle upkeep (checking fluids, tire pressure, etc.) and ensure the vehicle is always presentation-ready.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, event checklists, temperature records, and incident reports.
- Support other F&B operations (e.g., banquet deliveries within the hotel) during slower catering periods.
- Uphold strict hygiene, food safety, and hotel brand standards at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (appropriate class for the hotel’s truck size -medium truck license).
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3–5 years.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in delivery, catering, hospitality, or events.
- Knowledge of food safety practices (temperature control, safe handling) and basic catering equipment.
- Physically fit – able to lift and carry up to 30–50 kg repeatedly, bend, climb, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong time management and navigation skills (experience with GPS, route planning in urban/Doha traffic).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Flexible availability – must be able to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event calendar.
- Basic understanding of English (additional languages such as Arabic is a plus).
- Hospitality or customer service experience is highly desirable.
