Job Overview

The Cathlab Scrub Nurse position at Spandana Hospital is designed for junior-level professionals with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience. This is a full-time role based in Bangalore, supporting cardiology and critical care teams within the cath lab setting.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Electrocardiogram Interpretation (Mandatory skill): Ability to accurately interpret ECG readings for supporting cardiac procedures in critical settings.
  • Postoperative Care (Mandatory skill): Experienced in monitoring and supporting patients through recovery and immediate post-op phases.
  • Angiography Assistance (Mandatory skill): Skilled in assisting during angiography, maintaining procedural safety and efficiency.
  • Preoperative Preparation: Proficient in preparing patients physically and psychologically for cathlab procedures, ensuring readiness and comfort.
  • Sterile Field Maintenance: Proven expertise in establishing and maintaining a sterile field to minimize infection risk during interventions.
  • Catheterization: Competent in assisting with cardiac catheter insertion and management, following established protocols.
  • Aseptic Technique: Comprehensive knowledge of aseptic protocols to ensure contamination-free environments during invasive procedures.
  • Effective Communication: Strong ability to communicate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure clarity and care continuity.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist interventional cardiologists during cathlab procedures by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques, ensuring all procedural areas and devices remain contamination-free throughout interventions.
  • Interpret electrocardiograms and provide real-time support for patient status monitoring and quick response actions.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including verifying consent, prepping the surgical site, and addressing patient concerns.
  • Support postoperative care, monitoring patients for complications and assisting with timely recovery steps as needed.
  • Ensure all required materials and medications are prepared and available for scheduled cathlab procedures.
  • Document nursing actions, patient status, and procedures according to hospital standards and confidentiality requirements.
  • Collaborate professionally with other members of the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient-focused care in all cathlab activities.
