Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic while maintaining strict adherence to safety and infection control standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for patient procedures.
- Assist dentists during various treatments including chairside assisting with general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry cases.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix to ensure accurate documentation of patient information, treatment plans, and medical history.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly.
- Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to uphold the highest standards of safety within the clinic environment.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPAA privacy laws and infection control guidelines.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with proficiency in dental assisting procedures is required.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry is preferred.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools confidently.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a professional demeanor to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics when applicable.
