Key Responsibilities:1. Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the hospital’s nursing strategy aligned with organizational goals and patient care standards.
- Provide vision and leadership for the nursing workforce, ensuring a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient safety.
- Collaborate with the CEO, Medical Director, and other executives in hospital-wide planning and decision-making.
2. Nursing Operations & Clinical Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations of all nursing units and ensure optimal nurse-patient ratios.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce nursing protocols, clinical pathways, and evidence-based practices.
- Ensure timely discharge processes, effective patient flow, and coordination with medical and support departments.
3. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABH/JCI/other accreditation standards, statutory regulations, and hospital policies.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient safety, infection control, medication administration, and clinical documentation.
- Conduct regular audits and implement corrective measures to enhance nursing quality indicators.
4. Workforce Management & Development
- Plan manpower requirements, recruitment, and retention strategies for nursing staff.
- Oversee orientation, training, continuous professional development, and succession planning for nurses.
- Foster a positive work environment to improve employee engagement and reduce attrition.
5. Financial & Resource Management
- Prepare and manage the nursing department’s annual budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Monitor nursing supplies, equipment, and consumables, minimizing wastage and ensuring availability.
- Implement staffing models that optimize efficiency without compromising patient care.
6. Patient & Family Experience
- Ensure nursing staff deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, maintaining dignity and comfort.
- Address patient/family concerns related to nursing care in coordination with the Patient Relations team.
- Promote initiatives to improve patient satisfaction scores related to nursing services.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Nursing quality indicators (infection rates, medication errors, falls, pressure ulcers).
- Patient satisfaction scores related to nursing.
- Staff attrition rate and engagement levels.
- Compliance with accreditation and statutory standards.
- Efficiency of discharge process and patient flow.
- Budget adherence and cost optimization in nursing operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- B.Sc. Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing preferred) from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the State Nursing Council.
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive nursing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, accreditation processes (NABH/JCI), and clinical governance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
