Koyili Hospital is seeking an experienced, tech-savvy, and forward-thinking Chief Pharmacist to lead our pharmacy department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background combined with exceptional expertise in modern hospital pharmacy software (e.g., Electronic Health Records (EHR), Electronic Prescribing and Medication Administration (EPMA), inventory automation). As a leader, you will be responsible for mentoring junior pharmacists and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and optimizing pharmacy workflows through technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Digital Transformation
- Software Implementation: Act as the primary pharmacy liaison for the implementation, upgrading, and troubleshooting of hospital pharmacy informatics systems, including AI-driven inventory tools and EHR systems.
- Workflow Optimization: Utilize pharmacy technology to streamline dispensing, reduce medication errors, and improve patient safety (e.g., barcoding, automated dispensing cabinets).
- Policy Development: Develop and implement evidence-based medicine management policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory compliance protocols.
2. Team Leadership, Mentorship & Education
- Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and train junior pharmacy staff, interns, and technicians to enhance their clinical skills, software proficiency, and knowledge of new practices.
- Performance Management: Set KPIs, conduct performance appraisals, and manage staffing levels to ensure efficiency.
- Continuous Learning: Foster a "no-blame" culture of learning, encouraging staff to stay current with pharmaceutical developments and technology.
3. Operational & Clinical Management
- Medication Safety: Oversee the purchasing, storage, and secure dispensing of pharmaceutical supplies, including controlled substances.
- Clinical Governance: Ensure compliance with national standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to optimize patient care and therapeutic outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid pharmacist license to practice in this jurisdiction.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Technology Skills: Excellent knowledge of modern hospital software and Microsoft Office Suite.
