Pharmacist – Job DescriptionJob Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring safe and effective use of drugs, counseling patients, and maintaining compliance with pharmacy laws and hospital/retail policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately as per doctor’s orders
  • Review prescriptions for correctness, dosage, interactions, and allergies
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and precautions
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines (temperature, expiry, batch tracking)
  • Manage inventory, stock levels, and expiry checks
  • Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Act, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, and hospital policies
  • Maintain pharmacy records, billing, and documentation
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff
  • Handle narcotic and controlled drugs as per legal guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the pharmacy

Qualifications

  • D.Pharm / B.Pharm / M.Pharm
  • Registered with State Pharmacy Council
  • Valid license to practice

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of medicines and formulations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and patient counseling skills
  • Basic computer knowledge (billing software, hospital systems)
  • Ethical and professional conduct

Experience

  • Fresher or experienced (as per requirement)
  • Hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
