Job Description – Pharmacist

Department: Pharmacy
Reporting To: Pharmacy In-Charge / Hospital Administrator
Location: Medical College & Hospital

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for safe, accurate dispensing of medicines, proper storage and inventory management, and compliance with statutory and hospital pharmacy regulations to support quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense medicines accurately as per valid medical prescriptions.
  • Verify prescriptions for correct dosage, interactions, and contraindications.
  • Ensure proper storage of drugs as per temperature and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor expiry dates and remove expired or near-expiry medicines.
  • Maintain pharmacy stock, indents, and inventory records.
  • Ensure compliance with Drug & Cosmetic Act and hospital policies.
  • Provide basic medication counseling to patients when required.
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and wards for timely medicine supply.
  • Maintain pharmacy registers, billing, and documentation.
  • Support internal audits, inspections, and NABH/NMC requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and discipline in the pharmacy area.

Qualifications & Experience

  • D.Pharm / B.Pharm (Mandatory)
  • Registered with State Pharmacy Council
  • 1–3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Fresher may be considered as per management approval

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of medicines and dispensing practices
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer skills (billing/inventory software)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work in shifts

Working Conditions

  • Shift-based duty including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Hospital/clinical work environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month
