Child Care Director

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Daycare Director to lead and manage a vibrant early childhood education center. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, nurture a safe and engaging environment for children, and foster a collaborative team of educators and caregivers. Your leadership will ensure high-quality childcare that promotes childhood development, learning, and well-being. The ideal candidate is motivated, organized, and dedicated to creating a positive, inclusive space where children thrive and families feel confident in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the daycare, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that support early childhood education, including toddler care, preschool activities, and infant care.
  • Manage and supervise staff, including teachers, caregivers, and support personnel, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere with effective classroom management and behavior management strategies.
  • Oversee classroom activities to ensure they meet developmental milestones and adhere to licensing standards and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate staff scheduling, training, and professional development, including certifications such as first aid and special education.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to childcare, including health and safety standards.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates on children’s progress and addressing any concerns with transparency and professionalism.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as enrollment, billing, record-keeping, and reporting.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices in childhood development and caregiving.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that supports children with disabilities and diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to quality care and education.
  • Support emergency preparedness and conduct routine safety drills, including first aid procedures when necessary.
  • Advocate for the needs of children and families, building strong community relationships and partnerships.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children in childcare, preschool, or early childhood education settings, including classroom experience and toddler or infant care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing a team of educators and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and classroom management strategies.
  • Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional certifications in special education or working with children with disabilities are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of licensing requirements and safety standards for daycare centers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Experience with caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting is valuable, especially if it involved supervising children with diverse needs.
  • Passion for early childhood education, nurturing children’s growth, and creating a positive learning environment.
