The Childcare Worker provides a safe, nurturing, and teaching environment for children during church-related functions.

Responsibilities

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. To

perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following duties satisfactorily:

* Help provide and maintain a Christian environment in which the children may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually.

* Become acquainted with each child and aware of their needs.

* Give each child the attention needed to ensure their best welfare. (This relates to eating, toileting, playing, working, health care, safety, etc.)

* Plan and implement the nursery curriculum with the other childcare worker.

* Maintain and update the nursery handbook of policies and procedures. This includes policies on diaper changing routines, our sign-in and sign-out procedures, adult supervision, etc.

* Be familiar with and follow the established personnel policies and procedures.

* The nursery will need to be “room ready” for preschool after all children have left the nursery. This includes vacuuming, trash removal from nursery and changing area, sanitizing toys/tables/chairs.

* Other duties as may be deemed necessary.

Skill Requirements

* Prefer a high school diploma or hold a general education degree (GED) certificate

* Experience working with preschool children

* Demonstrate a love for children

* In good health, able to bend, stoop, lift, and physically take care of children.

* At least 18 years of age

* Must pass criminal background check and complete our ministry safe course

* Must be CPR certified.

Relationships

The Childcare Worker works with the other Childcare worker. All Childcare Workers report to the

Pastor (head of staff) and the Ruling Elders of Christian Education and Personnel. This person

maintains working relationships with families from within the congregation. Childcare Workers will

communicate with the church Administrative Assistant to obtain materials needed to sustain the

nursery. Work with the Director of the Preschool in learning best practices, age appropriateness, and

location of materials that can be used for the nursery.

Classification

* This position is classified as a part-time support staff and does not include vacation, sick leave, or other benefits afforded to full-time personnel.

* Weekly pay will be in the range of $14.00-$17.00 based on experience with a minimum of 3 hour shift.

* Annual reviews will be performed by the Pastor, Christian Education Elder, and/or Personnel Elder.

* The typically Sunday morning schedule is 8:45 am until 11:45 am. We have a strict policy that our Childcare Workers remain in the nursery until all children have been picked up by their parents.

* There will be times to stay later than 11:45 am. Please note the time you leave on your timesheet.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
