STV is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineering Specialist (0–3 years of experience) to join our Transportation Group in Boston, MA.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects that shape how people move through our communities. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers on a wide range of roadway, rail, utility, and site development projects for public and private clients.
Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineering Specialist, you will:
Support senior engineers and project managers on interdisciplinary design projects, including preparing design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
Assist in the design of roadway and rail alignments, cross sections, grading, drainage systems (hydraulics and hydrology), utilities, and traffic control plans.
Participate in design/bid/build and permitting processes, coordinating with subconsultants, monitoring schedules and budgets, and ensuring quality standards are met.
Use design software such as Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoTurn to produce high-quality deliverables.
Collaborate with internal technical disciplines and occasionally interface with clients, contractors, and agency representatives.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: 0–3 years of professional experience in transportation, roadway, or site design.
Certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation, Microsoft Office Suite, and GIS.
Understanding of roadway/highway/rail design principles.
Knowledge of vertical and horizontal alignments, grading, drainage, stormwater design, and utility layout.
Familiarity with hydrology/hydraulic modeling and pavement design is a plus.
Compensation Range:
$71,024.64 - $94,699.51
