A Clearing of Shipment Manager ensures imported goods move through customs without delays by handling documentation, compliance, and regulations.

He manage customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics to avoid demurrage, optimize costs, and adhere to international trade rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation Management: Preparing, reviewing, and filing customs entries, bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists.
  • Compliance & Regulation: Ensuring adherence to local and international trade laws, tariff classifications, and import/export regulations.
  • Operational Coordination: Liaising with customs authorities, clearing agents, shipping lines, and transport providers to facilitate timely cargo release.
  • Issue Resolution: Handling inspections, clearing delays, and resolving compliance issues with customs brokers promptly.
  • Cost Control: Optimizing shipping logistics, negotiating rates, and avoiding demurrage or storage charges.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge: Expertise in customs regulations, HS codes (tariffs), and import/export procedures.
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation and communication skills for coordinating with authorities and agents.
  • Experience: Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or customs management is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in customs software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Education: Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or related field.

Experience: Ideally 8–10 years in the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry.
