Job Summary

The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) serves as a clinical expert, mentor, and resource person for nursing staff. The CRN supports evidence-based practice, ensures high standards of patient care, assists in staff development, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance clinical quality and patient safety. This role bridges clinical practice, education, and quality improvement initiatives within the organization.


Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Support & Expertise

  • Provide real-time clinical guidance and support to nursing staff.
  • Assist with complex patient cases and clinical decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Participate in patient rounds as required.

2. Staff Education & Development

  • Identify learning needs among nursing staff.
  • Conduct orientation and competency-based training for new hires.
  • Organize in-service education sessions and workshops.
  • Support continuing professional development initiatives.

3. Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

  • Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Monitor clinical indicators and support corrective action plans.
  • Promote evidence-based practice across units.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and incident investigations.

4. Policy & Procedure Implementation

  • Support the development and revision of clinical policies and protocols.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of updated guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison between management and clinical staff regarding practice standards.

5. Mentorship & Leadership

  • Mentor junior nurses and support preceptors.
  • Promote a positive clinical learning environment.
  • Encourage teamwork and professional accountability.
  • Serve as a role model for clinical excellence and professionalism.

6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and department heads.
  • Facilitate communication between units to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
  • Valid Nursing License.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience in acute care, specialty area, or supervisory role preferred.
  • Certification in specialty area (if applicable) is an advantage.
