Job Purpose

The Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals admitted to the inpatient unit. The role ensures safe clinical practice, accurate documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety guidelines.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Clinical Practice

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and identify patient needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, wound care, vital signs monitoring, IV therapy, and patient hygiene.
  • Ensure timely response to patient needs, alarms, and changes in condition.
  • Maintain infection control standards and follow IPC guidelines.

2. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor patient progress and document all nursing interventions in EMR/clinical records.
  • Report any significant changes in patient condition to the physician or nurse manager promptly.
  • Ensure accurate handover communication during shift changes.

3. Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care conferences.
  • Support discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.

4. Patient & Family Education

  • Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, procedures, and health maintenance.
  • Provide emotional support and promote a positive patient experience.

5. Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Adhere to hospital clinical policies, nursing protocols, and regulatory standards (e.g., JCI, NHRA).
  • Promote a safe environment by identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, or near misses.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and mandatory training sessions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.

6. Teamwork & Professional Behavior

  • Demonstrate professional conduct aligned with the hospital’s values and code of ethics.
  • Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Nurse Manager in emergency or special situations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.

Licensure

  • Valid Nursing License/Registration from the national regulatory authority (NHRA or equivalent).
  • BLS certification (mandatory); ACLS/PALS preferred depending on unit.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of inpatient/acute-care nursing experience.
