Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Coffee Trade Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for buying and selling coffee beans, managing market dynamics, and maintaining profitable relationships with suppliers and buyers. Your primary focus will be on coffee trading, with additional responsibilities in agricultural commodities trading. We require a minimum of 5 years of experience in coffee beans trading or sales to ensure you can hit the ground running in this fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market analysis: Monitor global and domestic market trends, supply and demand, and price fluctuations.
- Sourcing and purchasing: Source high-quality coffee beans by building and maintaining relationships with producers and exporters.
- Negotiation: Negotiate prices and contract terms with suppliers and buyers.
- Sales and client relations: Engage with roasters and other wholesale buyers to sell coffee beans and expand business.
- Quality control: Evaluate the quality of coffee beans using sensory skills (cupping) to ensure they meet standards.
- Logistics management: Coordinate the shipping and delivery of coffee beans, manage inventory, and ensure timely arrival.
- Risk management: Mitigate financial risks associated with price volatility.
- Required skills and qualifications
- Market knowledge: Deep understanding of the coffee market, including current prices, trends, and different coffee varieties and origins.
- Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate prices and contracts effectively.
- Sensory evaluation: Strong sensory abilities for grading coffee based on taste and other characteristics.
- Relationship building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and clients.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous in managing contracts and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and market reports.
- Logistics proficiency: Knowledge of international and domestic shipping and logistics.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing market.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in coffee bean trading or sales.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting market data and identifying trends.
- Proficiency in using trading platforms and financial software for effective trade management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills for fostering relationships with suppliers and buyers.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of factors influencing coffee market dynamics, such as climate and global demand.
- Fluent English is mandatory, and any other languages such as Japanese, Thai or Laotian would be preferable.
- Any existing contacts and connections with potential coffee bean buyers, particularly worldwide, would highly desirable
