Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Coffee Beans Roaster to join our specialty coffee team. The Coffee Beans Roaster will be responsible for roasting coffee beans to precise profiles, ensuring consistency, quality, and flavor excellence in every batch. The ideal candidate has a keen sense of taste and smell, a deep understanding of coffee roasting techniques, and experience in maintaining roastery equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain coffee roasting equipment, including drum roasters, grinders, and cooling systems.
  • Roast coffee beans according to predefined profiles, adjusting time, temperature, and airflow to achieve the desired flavor notes.
  • Monitor and control roast cycles to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks, including cupping sessions, to evaluate roast levels and flavor profiles.
  • Maintain accurate roasting logs and records for traceability and batch consistency.
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of roasting equipment.
  • Collaborate with the production and quality teams to develop new roast profiles and blends.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new roasting techniques, and specialty coffee standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a coffee roaster, preferably in a specialty coffee environment.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee bean origins, varieties, and flavor profiles.
  • Ability to operate and maintain industrial roasting machines.
  • Excellent sensory evaluation skills (taste, aroma, and color).
  • Attention to detail, precision, and consistency in work.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and production scheduling.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in coffee roasting or barista training (e.g., SCA Coffee Skills Program).
  • Experience with quality control processes and cupping protocols.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in food production.
