We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of construction processes and materials. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project plans, soliciting bids from material vendors, and providing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to negotiate effectively, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
1. Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
2. Collaborate with general contractor project managers, architects, and engineers to clarify project specifications and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
3. Solicit bids from suppliers for materials and equipment needed for construction projects.
4. Analyze supplier bids, comparing prices, qualifications, and scope of work to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
5. Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment using an on-screen takeoff software.
6. Develop comprehensive project budgets, including allowances for contingencies, overhead, and profit margins.
7. Present cost estimates and project budgets to internal stakeholders, clients, and project partners, addressing any questions or concerns.
8. Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements while maintaining quality and schedule requirements.
9. Track and maintain accurate records of project costs and other relevant documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
10. Provide ongoing support to project teams, offering guidance on cost management, value engineering, and budgetary considerations as needed.
11. Submit project deliverables such as; submittals, schedule of values and calculated shop drawings per project spec requirements.
12. Participate in project meetings, site visits, and other collaborative activities to support project success and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
2. Proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably in commercial construction projects is preferred.
3. Proficiency in construction estimating and Microsoft Excel.
4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and resolve conflicts effectively.
6. Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and precision in cost estimating and budgeting.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
8. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes/regulations.
10. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Construction Estimator, Professional Estimator) is a plus.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
