Position Overview

The Market Research Analyst supports the firm’s brokerage teams by delivering accurate market data, validating statistics, maintaining comparable transaction databases, and assisting in the preparation of market reports and investment materials.

This is an entry-level position designed for a candidate looking to build a career in commercial real estate research, brokerage analytics, or market intelligence. The role combines data management, broker coordination, and foundational market analysis. While the position supports investment and strategic decision-making, it is primarily focused on research execution, data validation, and reporting support — not lead underwriting or senior-level deal evaluation.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable communicating with brokers and market participants.

Core Responsibilities

Comp Intelligence & Broker Coordination

• Manage and maintain monthly comparable data exchange relationships with peer brokerage firms
• Call and email brokers to confirm transaction details
• Maintain active tracking lists of lease and sale comparables
• Notify internal brokers regarding missing or incomplete transaction information
• Research press releases and market announcements to capture new activity

Market Data & Reporting Support

• Assist in compiling and validating market statistics for Industrial, Office, and Retail sectors
• Support the preparation of Quarterly Market Reports and other sector-specific summaries
• Assist with Chicago market data submissions to Lee Corporate
• Maintain internal databases of transactions, availabilities, and market activity
• Supply statistics and data summaries to Marketing as requested
• Support broker-specific market reports and custom analytics

Broker & Transaction Support

Assist brokers with:

• Lease and sale searches
• Availability and comp analysis
• Basic market trend questions
• CoStar and CRM troubleshooting
• Conduct preliminary research on ownership, tenancy, and property history when needed
• Support due diligence research by gathering public data and relevant filings

Market & Tenant Research (Foundational Level)

• Analyze leasing and sales comparables, vacancy trends, absorption activity, and development pipelines
• Monitor submarket trends and economic indicators
• Conduct high-level research on tenants, industries, and corporate real estate footprints
• Support the preparation of summaries for internal discussions and pitch materials

Monthly Sales Meeting Support

• Assist in the coordination and setup of monthly sales meetings
• Track lease comp submissions
• Document notable market trends and broker feedback

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 0–2 years of experience in commercial real estate, brokerage, research, finance, or analytics
• Strong Excel skills required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable communicating with brokers and external market participants
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred:

• Familiarity with CoStar, LoopNet, Crexi, or similar CRE databases
• Understanding of leasing structures and sales comparables
• Interest in long-term career growth in commercial real estate analytics

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
