The Commis I – Pastry is responsible for preparing and assisting in the production of desserts, pastries, baked goods, and confectionery items while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. The role supports the pastry team in daily kitchen operations and ensures consistency in all pastry products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked goods according to recipes and standards
  • Assist the Pastry Chef in daily mise en place and food preparation
  • Ensure proper portioning, taste, texture, and presentation of pastry items
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section at all times
  • Follow HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards strictly
  • Store ingredients and finished products correctly, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste
  • Operate pastry equipment safely and correctly (ovens, mixers, proofers, etc.)
  • Support inventory control by reporting shortages or spoilage
  • Assist with buffet setup, live stations, and special events when required
  • Train and guide junior staff (Commis II / III) when needed
  • Adhere to hotel/company policies and standard operating procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or certification in Pastry, Bakery, or Culinary Arts preferred
  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a professional pastry kitchen
  • Good knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and dessert preparation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Basic communication skills in English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,400.00 - AED1,500.00 per month
