Commis Chef (Luxury Hospitality)

The Commis Chef provides essential support to the kitchen brigade in the preparation and presentation of dishes within a luxury hotel environment. This role is designed for developing culinary professionals who are committed to learning, maintaining consistency, and upholding the high standards of quality, hygiene, and professionalism expected in a five-star operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs with food preparation and cooking in accordance with established recipes and standards
  • Perform basic culinary tasks accurately and efficiently to support daily operations
  • Follow portion control, plating, and presentation guidelines as directed by senior chefs
  • Ensure mise en place is prepared promptly and organized for service
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of workstations, tools, and kitchen equipment
  • Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, hygiene policies, and HACCP standards
  • Store ingredients correctly, ensuring proper labeling, dating, and stock rotation
  • Support smooth and efficient kitchen service during peak periods
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen sections and team members
  • Participate actively in training programs and continuous skill development

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef within a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant preferred
  • Culinary diploma, certificate, or relevant hands-on kitchen experience
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Basic understanding of culinary techniques and kitchen procedures
  • Eagerness to learn and follow direction from senior culinary professionals
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
