Communications Manager

Location: Northampton, MA
Pay Range: $53,000 - $63,000
Position Description:
The Communications Manager plays a key role in shaping and sharing the organization’s story. With a strong focus on writing, social media and meaningful storytelling, this position helps bring the mission to life through compelling content that connects with diverse audiences - clients, staff , donors, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing & Storytelling
- Write clear, engaging, and authentic stories that highlight programs, people and community impact.
- Develop content and submit timely newsletters, website articles, press releases, and marketing materials
- Collaborate with program staff to identify and shape stories that reflect organizational values and outcomes.
- Social Media & Digital Communications:
- Assist in executing the organization's social media strategy and oversee daily posting, engagement and analytics.
- Coordinate with internal teams to highlight key events, initiatives and success stories.
- Monitor emerging trends and make recommendations to strengthen online presence and engagement.
- Brand & Messaging Support
- Uphold brand guidelines and ensure cohesive messaging across print, digital, and visual materials.
- Edit, proofread and finalize communications from across the organization to maintain quality and clarity.
- Support communications planning for major initiatives, events and campaigns.
- Supervision & Collaboration
- Provide direction and support to assigned communications team member(s), fostering skills development and alignment with team goals.
- Partner with staff across departments to share resources, discuss & streamline processes, and coordinate communications efforts to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to an inclusive, mission-driven culture that values creativity, teamwork, and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or content development.
- Supervisory or mentorship experience preferred.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with proven ability to craft stories that inspire and inform.
- Experience managing social media platforms and digital content strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Have and maintain a valid Driver's License for a minimum of 6 months with an acceptable driving record.
