Position Summary
The Communications Specialist is a half-time position that will plan, manage, oversee, and ensure consistent implementation of all aspects of communications for the Center for Collaborative Conservation (CCC), with support from a Communications Intern and in close coordination with CCC staff. The core focus of this position is to inform and engage CCC constituents, partners, and funders. Specific elements of this job include design, newsletters, social media, special publications, website maintenance, and event-related communications. This position will supervise a work-study communications intern and will work closely with all CCC staff to engage in all our initiatives.
The Center for Collaborative Conservation (CCC; www.collaborativeconservation.org ) is part of Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources. At the CCC, we envision a world where conservation is rooted in mutual relationships that recognize the inherent worth of nature, individuals, and communities. Our mission is to make conservation more successful and enduring by teaching essential principles and skills for collaboration, connecting communities of practice, and catalyzing conservation outcomes.

With assistance from a part-time student employee who will be supervised by the Communications Specialist and with contributions from program staff, the position will:
Create and distribute content to grow and enhance support of and engagement with the individuals and organizations the CCC supports.
Disseminate this content through newsletters, web pages, and social media.
Design and produce special communication projects as needed, including materials to support fundraising and events.
Maintain focused and consistent branding across all CCC programs and initiatives.
Participate in staff events (e.g., weekly staff meetings; annual retreat) that our team informed and aligned.
A criminal background check is required.
Supervision
Supervise and mentor a student work-study Communications Assistant
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field
Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, and outreach.
Demonstrated creativity with graphic design used in communications materials, including experience with Canva and/or other design platforms.
Ability to work independently and within a collaborative, team environment.
Experience coordinating and managing projects.
At least one year of experience supervising other staff members.
Experience developing and implementing a strategic approach to marketing and communications.
Experience with communications analytics (social media, WordPress) to adaptively manage communications over time for greater reach and effectiveness.
Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development in the context of strong teamwork and collaboration.
