Job Description:

The Compliance team is hiring for a Director, Cboe Clear US (“CCUS”) Compliance.

As the Director, CCUS Compliance at Cboe, you will strategically support cross-functional teams – including the business, risk, operations, technology, and legal - by developing robust policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CFTC Core Principles and other regulatory obligations. This role involves monitoring relevant rulemaking, providing input during the development of new products and business initiatives, and acting as the primary liaison to the CFTC on CCUS compliance-related matters. The ideal candidate brings both extensive expertise in clearing compliance and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Work collaboratively across various disciplines to create, implement, and manage compliance policies, processes, and procedures that cover all regulatory and statutory obligations related to CCUS’ regulators, products, and services. Take ownership of managing, controlling, and overseeing all CCUS compliance activities to ensure operations run smoothly and within regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the primary point of contact on CCUS compliance items for regulators and internal teams, ensuring seamless communication and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Lead the response to CCUS internal and external audits, regulatory inquiries, and examinations, ensuring thorough and timely compliance.

  • Produce and submit CCUS compliance-related reports to regulators, covering market disruptions, system incidents, system changes, and the annual compliance report.

  • Provide expert guidance on conflicts of interest and other compliance practices, ensuring adherence to CEA and CFTC regulations and industry standards.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, addressing compliance-related issues effectively.

  • Participate in various committees and task forces, preparing materials, attending, and presenting at Board of Director and committee meetings as required.

  • Provide leadership support to junior members of the North American Derivatives Compliance team on CCUS US-related compliance tasks.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Twelve to 15 years of experience in the cleared derivatives industry, including experience with an FCM, Exchange, Broker-Dealer, CFTC, the SEC, NFA, or FINRA.

  • Demonstrated expertise in compliance best practices and ability to maintain a comprehensive compliance program aligned with Cboe standards, developing effective and efficient compliance solutions.

  • Proven leadership experience.

  • Ability to thrive in a small team within a global organization, working independently and managing competing high-priority projects successfully.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information for executive and Board member consumption.

  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point); familiarity with Jira, SharePoint, and Confluence is strongly preferred.

  • General familiarity with laws and regulations governing DCOs, with a strong ability to provide guidance and direction on related issues.

  • Back Office or clearing background with a hands-on approach and the ability to get things done.

  • Minimum Education Requirement: bachelor’s degree required, JD preferred

  • Exposure to, and relationships with. key CFTC regulators.

Our pay ranges are determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, role, experience, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $153,000-$189,000. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time. If you live in one of the following areas or if you work in a Cboe office in the following areas, the range may be higher according to the geographic differentials listed below:


US Geographic Differentials:

  • 110%: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA

  • 115%: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA

  • 120%: Boston MA, Washington DC

  • 125%: New York City NY

  • 130%: San Francisco CA


Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
