The primary duty of the CFD Engineering Analyst is to support modelling efforts using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software that will optimize building designs, deliver key insights, and solve unique and complicated challenges. At this role, the individual shall support project execution as part of a team, including data gathering, model creation and execution, and assembly of summary reports. This individual will also support the development and implementation of tools to improve the efficiency of the modelling process.

Specific duties include:

  • Supporting project delivery to optimize facility design, with a focus on Data Center modelling using Ansys Fluent, CFX and 6Sigma.

  • As part of the larger CFD team, work with the HDR business groups and external clients to solve complex projects using CFD.

  • Assessing the development and deployment of computational modelling tools and capability for analyzing and delivering high performance and informed building environments.

  • Create summary reporting and presentations to present the outcome of various simulations and resultant recommendations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • An energy/physics/mathematics related bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • A CFD/engineering/physics/mathematics related master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • A minimum of five years of CFD modelling experience
  • A minimum of two years of modelling experience with the Cadence Reality (6Sigma) or Ansys Fluent Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and team working skills
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics enabling understanding of the appropriate application of CFD modelling in relation to transient vs steady state, turbulence model complexity, radiation modelling, modelling of particulates/scalar transport amongst other considerations
  • Working knowledge of other software such as Autodesk CFD, CoolSim, MicroFlo, SimCenter STAR-CCM+, IES (EMEA)
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 2 years experience
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and controls and knowledge
  • Ability to develop detailed energy models with eQuest or other simulation software
  • Experience working within the architectural design process
  • Understanding of energy-efficient commercial lighting systems
  • Availability to travel out of state
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work in a team environment
