Construction Manager – Telecom (Data Center)
Job Description
Position Summary
The Construction Manager (Telecom – Data Center) is responsible for overseeing all on-site telecom construction activities, ensuring the successful execution of structured cabling, fiber optic systems, and network infrastructure within data center projects. The role ensures work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management & Execution
- Supervise daily telecom construction activities on-site
- Ensure installation works are executed as per approved drawings and specifications
- Monitor progress against the project schedule and take corrective actions when required
Telecom Infrastructure Oversight
- Manage installation of structured cabling systems (Cat6A, fiber optics, backbone systems)
- Oversee containment systems (cable trays, ladders, conduits)
- Supervise installation of racks, cabinets, patch panels, and labeling systems
Coordination & Interface Management
- Coordinate with civil, MEP, and IT teams to ensure smooth integration of works
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and client representatives
- Resolve site-related issues and technical conflicts
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, ANSI/TIA-942)
- Implement QA/QC procedures and inspection test plans (ITPs)
- Supervise testing, commissioning, and handover activities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce site safety regulations and company HSE policies
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Ensure safe handling of tools, materials, and equipment
Cost & Resource Management
- Monitor manpower, materials, and equipment utilization
- Support cost control and minimize rework or wastage
- Assist in material planning and procurement coordination
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports
- Maintain site records, logs, and as-built documentation
- Track milestones, deliverables, and site issues
