Job Title: Contracts Head / Head – Contracts

Industry: Construction / Real Estate / Infrastructure

Department: Contracts Management

Reports To: Managing Director

Job Summary:

The Contracts Head is responsible for overseeing the entire contracts management function across all construction projects. This includes drafting, evaluating, negotiating, and executing various contracts and agreements with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors. The role ensures compliance with legal, commercial, and technical requirements while minimizing risks and maximizing profitability.

Key Responsibilities:1. Contract Management

  • Prepare, review, and administer all project-related contracts including EPC, subcontractor, vendor, and consultancy agreements.
  • Ensure all contract terms comply with company policies, legal requirements, and project objectives.
  • Monitor contract performance, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely execution and closure.
  • Maintain records of all contracts and correspondence in an organized and auditable system.

2. Claims and Dispute Resolution

  • Manage all contract-related claims, variations, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with legal and project teams for dispute resolution and arbitration.
  • Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, and claims documentation in line with FIDIC or relevant contract conditions.

3. Risk and Compliance

  • Identify contractual, legal, and financial risks in projects.
  • Develop strategies and standard procedures to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company-specific requirements.

4. Commercial & Cost Control

  • Support project teams in budget management, cost control, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Review and approve subcontractor bills, payment certificates, and change orders.
  • Analyze project profitability and contractual performance metrics.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with internal departments — Legal, Procurement, Project Management, and Finance — for contract implementation.
  • Interface with external stakeholders including clients, consultants, and government authorities.
  • Conduct regular contract review meetings and provide reports to management.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of contract law, construction regulations, and FIDIC / EPC / turnkey contract formats.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and contract management software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Contract Management / Construction Law / Project Management (preferred).
  • Minimum 12–20 years of experience in contract management, preferably in construction, infrastructure, or real estate sectors.
