Contracts Manager

Essar Constructions India Limited (ECIL) is the Indian arm of Essar Projects, which focusses on India and the Sub-continent. It also has a multidisciplinary skilled and experienced Engineering & PMC division which provides a comprehensive array of value added technical engineering services, in a structured manner, across diverse sectors. It is fully geared to service global clients by providing end-to-end engineering solutions from feasibility studies and scope documents to design conceptualization, FEED, detailed design, PMC, field engineering, commissioning and start up assistance and also debottlenecking for efficient plant operations.


ECIL is looking out for Lead Commercial and Contract personnel to be based out of Mumbai.


Job Descripation:

Contract Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement contract management policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide strategic guidance on contract structuring, risk allocation, and dispute resolution.
  • Lead and mentor the contracts team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Contract Drafting & Negotiation:

  • Oversee drafting, review, and negotiation of EPC contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
  • Ensure alignment with project objectives, legal requirements, and company policies.
  • Negotiate terms with clients, partners, and vendors to secure favourable outcomes.

Contract Administration:

  • Monitor compliance with contractual obligations throughout project lifecycle.
  • Manage claims, variations, extensions of time, and change orders.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence and documentation.

Risk Management:

  • Identify contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and project teams to ensure risk exposure is minimized.
  • Provide early warnings on potential disputes and lead resolution efforts.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for contractual matters with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Support project managers and executives in interpreting and applying contract terms.
  • Represent the company in arbitration, mediation, or litigation when required.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Master’s degree in Law will be preferred


Experience:

15+ years of experience in contract management within EPC, construction, or infrastructure industries


Functional Skills:

Strong knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, and other international contract standards.

Proven track record in leading negotiations and managing high-value contracts.

Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen.
