Position Overview
We are seeking a Control Engineer to design, implement, and commission monitoring and control systems across utility-scale solar PV, energy storage, and hybrid projects. This role involves SCADA systems, PLC programming, system architecture, and ensuring system responsiveness to grid commands and dynamic conditions. Ideal candidates balance strong technical control engineering skills with effective project communication and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement SCADA, PLC, RTU, and plant controller systems for solar, BESS, and related renewable energy projects.
- Draft detailed system architecture diagrams, I/O point lists, logic schematics, HMI mock-ups, IP address allocations, and network descriptions.
- Program controllers (PLCs, SCADA servers, historians, HMI) and support commissioning activities (FAT, SAT, and remote or onsite).
- Troubleshoot operational issues during development, commissioning, and live operations using diagnostic tools.
- Ensure plant responsiveness to grid set-point commands and compliance with grid codes via PPCs, RTACs, or other interfaces.
- Produce technical documentation: as-built drawings, commissioning reports, operator guides, training materials.
- Manage project scope, schedules, and cross-functional coordination with project managers, clients, utilities, and contractors.
- Support continuous improvement by adopting modern development practices (version control, automated testing, cloud tools).
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related—Master’s is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- 3–10 years of experience in controls engineering for renewable energy (solar PV / BESS / hybrid systems).
- Proficiency in IEC 61131 languages (Structured Text, Ladder Logic), plus familiarity with programming languages like Python, C, or C++.
- Comfort with SCADA platforms, including Ignition, and experience with network architectures (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC-UA, MQTT).
- Knowledge of power system modeling tools (e.g., DigSilent PowerFactory, EMTP, MATLAB), BMS, and telemetry systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communicator and team player; able to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and adaptable to fast-paced project environments.
- Committed to quality, safety, and continuous process and technology improvement.
Travel Commitment: Willingness to travel for commissioning, client meetings, and site support—typically up to 20–25%.
Job Type: Full-time
