Controller Position Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the personnel and activities of the Accounting Team.
  • Oversees and participates in hands on performance of the operations of the Accounting Department, which include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, Fixed Assets and Payroll.
  • Manages compliance with state and federal agencies and external audits.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and performs business analytics to support dynamic corporate product and service initiatives.
  • Monitors and performs the general ledger and monthly accounting close processes.
  • Works with team members to continue growing their skills and knowledge base.
  • Assures the timely reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts each month.
  • Produces monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Prepares annual tax package for tax firm and coordinates resulting state tax filings and payments.
  • Supports and provides financial and supporting schedules to the tax firm and coordinates state tax return mailings and payments as prepared by the tax firm.

Knowledge/Credentials/Experience:

  • Proficient in Excel tools and analysis of large volumes of Excel data.
  • NetSuite experience is helpful though not necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • State Tax / Compliance experience helpful.

Skills & Ability— Time management, ethical, proficient communicator, project management, problem solving/analysis, wide degree of creativity, multitask a variety of complicated demands


Physical characteristics— ability to sit, stand, bend, lift no more than 50lbs, talk, hear, type, read printed material, utilize a computer and professionally communicate over the telephone.


Environmental factors—working conditions inside the office a couple days per week with moderate noise levels, work from home a few days per week, travel less than 10%.


Working conditions – regular business hours, situational holidays & weekends as necessary to meet business needs.
