Spark Ops Metalworks is a growing, innovative metal manufacturing and fabrication company located in Fond du Lac. As our business continues to scale rapidly, we are creating an exciting new Controller role for a motivated accounting professional who wants to make a meaningful impact. This is a highly visible position with direct access to ownership and leadership, offering the opportunity to influence both day-to-day operations and the long-term direction of the company.

The Opportunity

As Controller, you will own the full accounting function while also serving as a strategic partner to ownership and leadership. There is no accounting staff supporting this role, so you will be directly involved in the daily accounting activities while also helping shape systems, controls and financial strategy as the company evolves.

What You’ll Do

• Own and manage the full accounting cycle, including month-end close and financial reporting
• Develop, improve and streamline accounting systems, reporting and processes
• Establish and maintain internal controls and document accounting policies and procedures
• Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze variances and clearly communicate insights to leadership
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial projections to support growth and operational efficiency
• Partner with leadership and ownership on strategic planning and decision-making
• Research and recommend accounting and finance best practices
• Develop, implement and track KPIs to monitor company performance
• Manage cash flow and serve as the primary point of contact for banks and financial institutions
• Oversee vendor relationships and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Process payroll and oversee benefits administration
• Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations and the construction of a new facility
• Evaluate and recommend ERP and accounting software solutions aligned with the manufacturing industry
• Support the accounting and financial oversight for a few small sister companies under common ownership

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (Controller or senior-level accounting experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Strong business acumen with an interest in operational efficiency and best practices (lean, continuous improvement, etc.)
• Self-motivated, organized and comfortable owning both the details and the big picture
• Someone who enjoys building, improving and taking initiative in a growing organization
