Childcare Center Cook – Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and organized Childcare Center Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child nutrition and food safety, and committed to maintaining a clean and positive kitchen environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children aged 1 to 5 years, following pre-approved menus.
• Ensure all food preparation and service comply with Bright from the Start regulations and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
• Assist in creating age-appropriate menus as needed.
• Generate and submit weekly grocery lists to support meal planning and ordering.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
• Support other areas of the childcare center as needed, occasionally filling in for staff.

Qualifications:

• Experience in cooking for children in a childcare, school, or institutional setting preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition and food safety standards for young children.
• Ability to multitask, follow regulations, and work independently.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Must pass required background checks and health screenings.
